"I'm not
a large corporation, foundation,
historic group, or large syndicate.
I'm just a guy that grew up in
southern Michigan with great
memories of the BobLo Boats. Since I
acquired the boat, I've been amazed
at all the people that share my same
dream and determination to get the
Ste. Claire operational again. On
August 8th, 2009, I had scheduled a
volunteer day to help remove
demolition debris from the ship.
From the moment I woke up that day,
the rain outside was unrelenting. As
I headed towards the ship, I kept
thinking that I would be down there
with only a couple of other people.
I was absolutely amazed to see the
number of people that showed up in
the horrible rain. In two hours, we
removed the very large pile of wood
at the stern of the ship and made
the ship ready for construction to
begin on rebuilding the stern.
Everybody was dirty and wet, but
nobody cared because we were one
more step towards bringing the Ste.
Claire back to life. I want to thank
the people pictured above and let
them know that it is people like
them that make the restoration of
the Ste. Claire every bit worth it.
With your help, I will not stop
until the day when we can show up to
the Ste. Claire and dance in the
grand ballroom as we cruise up and
down the Detroit River. Again thank
you and thank you to every one who
has helped the Ste. Claire
restoration" |
